2024 BLACK MAMA'S BAIL OUT

by Philadelphia Community Bail Fund

This April and May, we are hoping to raise $100,000 to buy back the freedom of Black women and caregivers who are imprisoned in Philadelphia. Last year your generosity helped us reunite 36 Black women and caregivers with their families and communities.

In May 2017 a group of Philadelphia based organizers held the very first Black Mama's  Bail Out. That year we raised $60,000 and bought back the freedom of 13 mothers in time for Mother's Day. As we enter our 7th year of the bail out, you've helped to free 177 Black women and caregivers and paid $1,901,013 in ransom!

Our goal is to raise $100,000 to bail out Black women and caregivers. Like last year, we are expanding our Black Mama's Bail Out to include all Black women, gender-non-conforming people, and primary caregivers of all genders. We are prioritizing Black pregnant people and mothers. Every dollar you give now through May 12, 2024 will help us to #FreeBlackMamas.

We also set aside a portion of the funds we raise to provide mutual aid and support to everyone we bail out to help ensure that they are able to return to court and have good outcomes. We've helped pay past due rent, utility bills, provide support to buy basic necessities and other things needed to help stabilize their life and family when they return home.

Your support makes all of this possible!
